Great Yarmouth gives businesses huge opportunities to succeed and grow as a company or venture, whatever sector they may be in,. One such opportunity was the recently successful Great Yarmouth Enterprise Hub project.
Through support from Great Yarmouth Borough Council, The New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, and Central Government funding, this project was created to provide free, confidential and impartial support for pre-start, new and established businesses. It also represented a key piece of enterprise infrastructure, providing outward-facing, broad-based, trusted and responsive support to businesses and individuals at every stage of development, but focussing on newer or smaller business and people exploring self-employment as a venture.
It has been great to see that the Great Yarmouth Business Hub met and exceeded most of the targets it aimed for and has generated significant insights into local need/demand that could enable further projects like this in the future for local businesses and residents in Great Yarmouth.
Key achievements include:
- 10 new businesses created as a result of support
- £32,128 of investment attracted as a result of support
- 146 local organisations engaged in knowledge transfer, focusing on collaboration and transferring of good ideas, research results and skills
Due to the success of this project, and the demand shown, it is brilliant to see that Great Yarmouth Borough Council will now continue to explore opportunities for collaboration and further sources of funding to enable the learning from this successful pilot to be sustained within Great Yarmouth in whatever form is needed.
