Covid-19 Marshalls
Today, in the sleet and the snow, myself and the Leader of the Council, Cllr Carl Smith, volunteered as Covid-19 Marshalls.
It was great to be out with the regular team of Marshalls, who have shown great dedication and community spirit; by supporting many businesses, people isolating and visiting houses of multiple occupants (HMOs). All the while putting their own lives at risk.
Councillor Carl Smith and I paid a visit to Supermarkets in our ward of Bradwell North this afternoon, asking if they required any additional support and thanking them for their continued service to the community. It was wonderful to see the Store Manager of Morrisons once again, and hear about how his store has proactively adapted to changes.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has really been a council to look up to in Norfolk, receiving high praises from many outside agencies, on the speed it has got money out to businesses through grants and how quickly it managed to accommodate all the homeless in such a quick time.
This has all been made possible by the Conservative led council operating as one, with cross party support and input from the Leader of the Opposition, Cllr Trevor Wainwright, and proactive independent councillors.
