Work on the Third River Crossing is continuing at a fast pace, with all demolition work having now been completed. This will now make way for the main construction of the bridge and supporting infrastructure to begin.
At the end of April, construction works on the bridge's bascule chambers will commence, initially from land on Bollards Quay prior to working in the river, where a barge will be used to install the cofferdams on both banks.
Currently, work is underway to relocate existing utility services and the traffic management measures currently in place on William Adams Way will enable them to construct additional traffic lanes in both directions, now the footbridge has been safely removed.
The project is committed to leaving a lasting legacy of positive change and will ensure maximum benefit to the local community, creating jobs and a better quality of life, as well as benefiting the County and wider economy as a whole.
