One issue which regularly gets reported to me from residents in Bradwell, is the disgusting illegal dumping of fridges, microwaves, rubble, and other such rubbish. Many in the village take pride in their area, and this type of behaviour is just not fair on them.
That's why I was very pleased to hear last month that fines for littering, graffiti and fly-tipping have been increased by our UK Government – a very welcomed move! The new powers became available to councils from July 31, 21 days after the legislation was laid.
The Government increased the upper limits for various fixed penalty notices (FPNs) in July. Now anyone caught fly-tipping can be fined £1,000 – up from £400 – and anyone caught littering or daubing graffiti can be fined £500 – up from £150.
The move will also see fines for people who use rogue traders to illegally dump household waste increased to £600 from £400.
If anyone in Bradwell spots fly-tipping that needs clearing away, please do contact me at [email protected] or call me on 07399 372997. I will then have this cleared up for you.
We must show no mercy against fly-tippers – it’s irresponsible, it’s selfish and it’s disgusting.
